I spent a wonderful week in Shetland in April. I went with my best friend and her dog and got blown inside out by the wind. Its was the most amazing place with a beautiful glacial landscape. The colours change with the weather, and in one week we experienced thick mists and bright blue skies. The windswept mountains merged from grey brown to yellows and pinks, somehow reflecting the colour of the underlying granite. The sea surged from foamy grey waves pounding the cliffs so hard you could feel the vibrations through your feet, to deep greens and blues.

We walked the beaches in all weathers wrapped in many layers, making photography impractical, but oh the shells! I found some beautiful eroded whelks to add to my collection. At St Ninans the tide had just started to recede and left me some beautiful Ocean Quahog clams. I to use these to inspire some lino prints in the future. I will also photograph them and make large format negatives for cyanotypes
